Charity Hospitals

Operation Smile’s charity hospitals provide no-cost treatment and serve as a medical base for needy children and young adults with cleft lips and cleft palates. Our first charity hospital is based in Hangzhou, and cares for thousands of children and young adults every year.



A second charity hospital is planned for Kunming, that will provide free on-site reconstructive treatment for those in need, and also serve as a launch pad from which medical teams can efficiently organize local medical missions to help children and young adults with cleft lips and cleft palates in the remote neighboring regions.



A major breakthrough for cleft treatment in China, charity hospitals deliver international-standard “multidisciplinary care,” in which surgery, dental and orthodontic services, and speech therapy are combined to provide better results as each child grows and develops.
